Class Dues Update
Thanks goes out to the 175 classmates who've paid they're dues. These dues do not go to the University, but are instead used to support Class of 1988 projects and activities. Gotten your PAW? Attended a tailgate? Gone to a regional lecture or event? Enjoyed free beer at an off year reunion? Those were all covered by class dues funds.
Now, 175 is a good number. An honorable number. But a proud number? Not when it's only 16% of our class and we've regularly pushed 25% participation in the 20 odd years since we walked away from Old Nassau. Let's mark this year up to unusual solar flare activity and get back up where we belong. Want to see who to thank for the latest PAW or warm beer in a plastic cup? Look no further. Want to add yourself to the list? Take a look at the left side of this page.
One last Annual Giving note...
Our fiscal year is wrapping up and we're just shy of 50% class participation for annual giving. This is a great effort, but still short of our goal of 60% participation. Wondering if you've given already or not? Check out this list of contributors.
Want to sneak in under the wire like the two dozen or so earlier today? Visit the Annual Giving website (you're already online), or call 800-258-5421.
Reunions 2009
It may have been an off year, but we did have the opportunity to collect the Clancy cup from our 20th
and enjoy the brilliant weather that weekend.
Let's make sure we get someone on the weather for the 25th, which is bearing down on us.
Alumni Trustees
Nominees for Alumni Trustee At-Large, Alumni Trustee Region II, and Graduate Alumni Trustee are out. As part of the University's initiatives in cost-cutting and sustainability, the notice of the election electronically to all alumni with e-mail addresses on file. As has been the case for several years now, you can vote using your TigerNet UserID and password at the secure online site where you will be able to access the same information about the candidates and about the election that had previously been sent by mail.
Annual Giving Update
We got out to a roaring start and for the first few months of the campaign (really September to early December) we were the top participation class from the classes of ’64 to ’04. Since then, the ’88 machine has slowed a good bit and the rest of the classes have caught up to us. We’re now at 18.1% and $103,000 (The University’s participation average at the moment is 21.6%)
Bill Bowman and Sean Brennan will be sending the next written appeal to the class in first week in February. For those who’ve not worked on these campaigns before, if we do nothing else but mail and email, participation will finish in the low to mid 40% range… well below the university average of 60%.
We’ll need to build a team in the first quarter of the year with an eye toward a pile of personal outreach in the final quarter of the year… the most important quarter in Annual Giving when nearly 1/3 of our donors come in. In the spirit of “many hands make light work for Bill and me,” we’re shooting for a minimum of 50 teammates which we’ll look to fully deploy from April 1 to June 30. Be ready to answer the call!
PAW Online
The PAW has redesigned their website to provide past classnotes and memorials, letters and articles and a Weekly Blog to keep us all on top of the news of Princeton and its alumni.
Speaking of classmates in the PAW, back in the "Tiger Eats" issue, there was a profile of Guy Hernandez and the restaurant he owns and runs with his wife Stella. They've been surprised by the number of Princetonians in the Portland area, so if you're ever in Portland, be sure to stop by for a drink, a snack or a full five course meal.
Volunteer Leadership Assembly
Classmates Charlene Huang Olson, Larry Neubauer, Jimmy Simmons, Sean Brennan and Bart Huffman were all on-campus for the University's Volunteer Leadership Assembly held in October. The event is held about once every three years. Approximately 600 alums descended upon the campus that weekend. Bart is currently chairing the Committee on Regional Affairs.
class dues reminder and online payment
Dues help to support our class events and service activities and ensure that everyone receives the PAW. Dues are $55 for one year and $250 for 5 years if paid by year's end.
If you'd like to save a stamp, you can pay your dues and contribute to the Class of 1988 Memorial Scholarship Fund online here----->
speaking of class dues...
Put yours to work by plannnin an 88 service activity or regional event at your home or your favorite park, museum, restaurant, theatre, or bar and host local 88ers for a fun day or evening out.
How about an 88 table at your regional associations annual dinner or group seats to see the visiting Triangle Show in your town? Our last class event in September at the Newberry Library in Chicago gave us the opportunity to view the wonderful collection of childrens books on display in the Artifacts of Childhood exhibit co-curated by classmate, Jenny Schwartzberg.

new class agents
Please welcome our new class agents, Sean Brennan and Bill Bowman, who are not new to the Annual Giving scene, but are certainly stepping up as we head toward the Big 25.
We thank Bob Newmark for an amazing five years and for his efforts leading a wonderful group including Larry Neubauer, Lillian Oshva, Chuck Fontana, and many others who were and will continue to be invaluable to the team.
Harvard game is October 25th
If youre coming back for the big game, our class is having a Tiger Tailgate in Jadwin Gym beginning at 11 am. Come by for food and drinks and to catch up! Kick-off is 1 pm.
Catch the Fall Football Lecture just prior: McCain or Obama: What to Expect from the First 100 Days in Office in McCosh Hall, Room 50 at 10:15 a.m.
the Clancy Award (again)
Two for two. The 20th followed up on our 15th's success and scored the Clancy Award for the best organized reunion. The exact wording of the award might be slightly different, but suffice it to say that Theresa and Brooke and their crew were all that and a bag of chips.
Nice work everyone.
reunions 2008 update

Put another major in the books. Hats off to Theresa Sauceda-LePage and Brooke Allen for pulling off a great 20th. We're working on a final wrap up and posting of pictures, but in the meantime, here is the short versions.
Now, who's up for our 25th?
witness protection...
Now we realize that there may be legitimate reasons to live off the grid and under the Princeton radar, but that doesn't mean we have to stop looking for you. Chris Lu is going to start listing some of our classmates who have gone missing in the PAW to see if anyone can shed some insight and we have a list of folks with no email (how is that still possible) as well as folks we don't have reliable phone numbers for. Take a look and see if there's anyone you know and let Chris Lu know what you know. You know?
And once we've found you, don't forget to keep us up to date with your Tigernet info.
