That's a winner!
The Class of '88 has always been known as a loyal group, but this year's reunions attendance shows that we can talk the talk and walk the walk. Charlene's finished counting slips of paper and here are the tallies we sent to the Alumni Council:
- 402 Classmates came back for the 88 Days of Summer
- That's 36% of our total class size
- 235 Spouses and guests accompanied them
- 332 Kids were booting around that weekend
- Total number of people attending was 969. Woo hoo.
Yogi Berra once said,
I thought that record would stand until it was broken.
Enough said.
"I know it is wet
And the sun is not sunny.
But we can have fun
Lots of good fun that is funny."
-Dr. Seuss
A memorial lymeric...
The courtyards have cleared,
the tents taken down.
Princeton has returned
to a sleepy little town.
The orange plaid jackets are gone
for 2003,
it happened so fast--
how can that be?
The "88 Days of Summer" are over;
we had a great time.
We've made some nice memories,
now we recall them in rhyme.
While it was spring in New Jersey,
Mother Nature didn't play fair.
She opened up the heavens
leaving nothing to spare.
The sun did not shine,
It was almost too wet to play.
But we were determined to have fun
On that cold, cold, wet day.
The sky kept clouding over
an ominous charade,
But somehow it didn't rain,
On our blessed P-rade!
We brought back a full roster
on our '88 Team
With some 300 "little" players
40+ strollers in a steady stream.
Yes, our courtyard looked different,
this time around,
With diaper bags and toys,
blanketing the ground.
One thing we've done well
Since last time we met
Is pop out them kids...
...3 and 4 in a "set."
A funny happened this time,
"Goin' Back"
at our class dinner,
we had to "evac."
With a bright flash of lightning
and a loud thunderous sound-
We heard the fireworks ignite
while still on the ground!
To the basement of Jadwin we scurried below,
to let the party continue,
and the wine and beer flow!
Despite the weather, which really was, well....crappy,
our reunion crew did a great job,
to keep us all happy.
We had decent beer,
we enjoyed every ounce.
As we watched our kids romp
on the Tiger moon bounce!
There was must catching up to do
Between classmates and spouses
To learn of new kids, new jobs and new houses.
This is what reunions are all about:
to visit our 'ole buds
While chasing our kids
and enjoying the suds.
So thanks for coming and creating
a wonderful time--
Now I can end--this tedious rhyme.
Our 15th Reunion celebration was really great,
So lets do it again
--in 2008!
